At the end of Development Summit #1, teams will be expected to present a high level overview of their project as well as a development roadmap for the duration of the BDAthlon. Workshops will be focused on, but not limited to, the following:

  • Software design planning

  • Open source software tutorials

  • UX Design workshops

  • Software engineering and standards requirements

Development Summit #2 will be focused on assisting teams in the mid phase of their project. At this point teams will be expected to briefly present on any progress they’ve made and have the chance to receive feedback from both the open source community and Nona members. Workshops will be focused on, but not limited to, the following:

  • Case Study Data

  • Prototyping Events

  • Meet with Biofoundry Customers

  • Deployment scenarios

Development Summit #3

Development Summit #3 will be focused on assisting teams in the late phase of their project. At this point teams will be expected to present on progress made since Development Summit #2, as well as how they plan to finish and deploy their software in preparation for the end of the BDAthlon. Teams will also have the chance to receive feedback from both the open source community and Nona members. Workshops will be focused on, but not limited to, the following:

  • Documentation Standards

  • Early demos

External Guests

Outside of using Development Summits to progress and track projects, they will also be used to engage developers with external guests that are interested in Nona’s mission statement. Such guests can include academics, company sponsors, and other professional experts. To ensure that adequate value is provided to sponsors, they will get priority for presentation sessions and speaker slots during Development Summits. Through these guests we hope to expose developers to the needs of the synthetic biology community and/or provide additional perspective in both technical and high level details relevant to the development process.
